Hi Jim

The Apple Accessibility pages offer some very helpful stuff, including the
VoiceOver manual in BRF format if you are able to open it with an OCR
package or read it on a Braille note-taker.

There are lots of other very good tutorials and podcasts done by Mike Erigo
on
www.blindcooltech.com

I hope that helps to get you started.

Kind Regards,

Jackie Cairns

Thanks all over the place.

I have a client who is looking for such a tutorial but, as of yet, I haven't
found a good one.

Again, thanks all over the place.

Hi Jim,

I second Chris' recommendation; there's a nice podcast about using the VoiceOver web rotor to navigate in Safari at the Vision Australia site that he links. I'd just suggest that you download the mp3 file (either press Option+Return when you're on the link, or bring up the context menu VO-Shift-M and choose to download the linked file) rather than streaming, because sometimes the connection to the site may not be good.

I'd also suggest reading through the section of the "VoiceOver Getting Started Guide" for Snow Leopard on "Browsing the Internet" (Chapter 6). This available on the web from Apple's VoiceOver Downloads page:
http://www.apple.com/voiceover/info/guide/
(The guide can also be accessed from the VoiceOver Help menu on your Mac: VO-H and then navigate to "Getting Started Guide" by pressing "g" or using your arrow keys, then press "Return".) If you need a copy in RTF format, you can download it from this page of documentation:

http://www.adaptive-tech.org/ess/html/Docs.html

Other helpful parts to check in the documentation are the Appendix A lists of VoiceOver commands, particularly under "Search Commands" for shortcuts like finding the next heading, etc. and for the "Web Commands".

Finally, a very overlooked resource is the Help menu on the menu bar for Safari.

HTH. Cheers,

Esther
